In 2013, the Covering Kids and Families of NE Indiana Coalition (CKF-NEIN) assisted 1,793 families with signing up for Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan. The Coalition also assisted 767 pregnant women with signing up for Presumptive Eligibility allowing them to receive early prenatal care. In 2013 we expanded our efforts to include assisting with signing up for health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace and assisted 11 families with this application process before the end of 2013.
CKF-NEIN continues to build on the expansion of the coalition in Kosciusko County which started in 2012. Through grant funding from CHIPRA, we hired an Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator and continued to build our partnerships with hospitals, health clinics, schools and community agencies to help increase enrollment in Hoosier Healthwise, HIP, and the Health Insurance Marketplace. Currently both Warsaw Community Schools and Wawasee Community Schools have committed to ensuring that 100% of uninsured children are enrolled in a health insurance program.
Along with Kosciusko County, a new partnership with Elkhart General Hospital has allowed CKF-NEIN to hire an Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator who is working in conjunction with the hospital’s Community Outreach Department in Elkhart County. We have worked to build our coalition in this county through partnerships with schools, hospitals, health clinics, and other community agencies and will continue to seek opportunities to grow.
Through continued efforts with partners consisting of Indiana Rural Health Association, CKF-IN, CKF-NEIN and About Special Kids and funding dollars through a grant from Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), we continue to implement a 100% Campaign in Noble County. CKF-NEIN has also received supplemental funding to include enrollment efforts in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Our efforts could not take place if it were not for the generous support of our donors. We would like to thank Parkview Community Health, Parkview LaGrange, Parkview Whitley, English, Bonter, Mitchell Foundation, Lutheran Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, Elkhart General Community Health Foundation, Parkview Physicians Group, MDWise, and Managed Health Services.
