Northeast IN Coalition

The Northeast Indiana Coalition has a tremendous group of partners that are dedicated to addressing enrollment and recertification barriers, as well as, reducing the number of uninsured children, families, adults and pregnant women in Northeast Indiana. In 2009, the Coalition assisted 1,400 families and adults in signing up for the Hoosier Healthwise and the HIP programs.

The Steering Committee felt that it was important to educate our local Legislators with the issues that families face when enrolling in Hoosier Healthwise and HIP, as well as, recertifying for these programs. A fact sheet was created and presented at the yearly community wide Breakfast with Legislators meeting in December.

The Coalition also felt it was important to create community awareness about the new Presumptive Eligibility program that was started by the State in July 2009. This program will allow women to start receiving prenatal care while their Hoosier Healthwise application is processing. The Coalition through the lead agency, CANI and Parkview Hospital has started a community wide enrollment effort at Northeast OB-GYN. This has been a great success with helping pregnant women receive the prenatal care that they need from the beginning of their pregnancy.

Our efforts could not take place if it was not for the generous support of our donors. We would like to thank Parkview Foundation, MDwise, Parkview Whitley Foundation, Northeast OBGYN and Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne for their generous support.
